VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A house RESOLUTION
to congratulate Breeden's Quality Meats on the celebration of its one hundreth anniversary and to recognize its outstanding contribution to the heritage, economy, and community spirit of Bennettsville and the State of South Carolina.
Whereas, in 1926, brother's Will and Gene Breeden established Breeden's Quality Meats in downtown Bennettsville, providing personal customer service and quality meats in the tradition of hometown grocery stores; and
Whereas, Breeden's Quality Meats became a trusted cornerstone of the Bennettsville community, where customers were known by name and groceries and meats were prepared with care and dedication; and
Whereas, Will and Gene Breeden faithfully owned and operated the business until 1962, when ownership transferred to Howard Thompson, who had served as store manager since 1944 and continued the proud traditions of the establishment until 1974; and
Whereas, upon his retirement, Howard Thompson sold the business to John and Luna Thompson, both longtime employees, with Mrs. Luna serving since 1945 and Mr. John since 1946, whose commitment and stewardship further strengthened the legacy of Breeden's Quality Meats; and
Whereas, upon their retirement, John and Luna Thompson entrusted the business to their only grandchild, Cam Stone, and his wife Cindy Stone, who have faithfully operated and preserved Breeden's Quality Meats since 1988; and
Whereas, while adapting to the changing needs of customers over the decades, Breeden's Quality Meats has maintained the personal service, historic character, and community-centered values that have defined the business for a century; and
Whereas, the Stones expanded operations by establishing a South Carolina Meat and Poultry inspected processing facility, allowing the production and wholesale distribution of their own Breeden's Pork Sausage, a product recognized as a Certified South Carolina product by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture; and
Whereas, Breeden's Quality Meats stands as a rare and treasured example of a family-operated local business whose continued success reflects dedication, integrity, hard work, and a deep commitment to community; and
Whereas, the owners and employees of Breeden's Quality Meats have demonstrated enduring pride in serving the people of Bennettsville and surrounding communities for one hundred years; and
Whereas, sincere appreciation is extended to Cam and Cindy Stone, past owners and employees, and all those who have contributed to the remarkable success and enduring legacy of Breeden's Quality Meats. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Breeden's Quality Meats on the celebration of its one hundredth anniversary and recognize its outstanding contribution to the heritage, economy, and community spirit of Bennettsville and the State of South Carolina,
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Cam and Cindy Stone.
