A house RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE and recognize Alianza Latina, in commemoration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, for its outstanding contributions to the Hispanic and Latino community of South Carolina, and to recognize the growing importance of the significant contributions of Hispanic and Latino South Carolinians to the economic and social growth of the state.
Whereas, each year, from September fifteenth through October fifteenth, the United States celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month, recognizing the history, culture, traditions, achievements, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to our nation; and
Whereas, the Hispanic and Latino community represents an important and rapidly growing part of the population of South Carolina, contributing every day to the strength of our families, communities, schools, institutions, businesses, and economy; and
Whereas, Hispanic and Latino families, workers, entrepreneurs, professionals, students, and community leaders have played an increasingly important role in South Carolina's economic and population growth, contributing their talent, hard work, innovation, entrepreneurship, and cultural diversity; and
Whereas, the civic participation of Hispanic and Latino South Carolinians is increasingly important to the present and future of our State. They represent an essential voice in building communities that are inclusive, representative, and responsive to the needs of all residents; and
Whereas, Alianza Latina, which has served the Midlands for more than ten years, builds bridges, expands opportunities, strengthens civic participation, encourages leadership, and promotes the well-being of all South Carolinians. The organization has continuously demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Hispanic and Latino community through their work in community engagement, education, civic participation, leadership development, and advocacy; and
Whereas, Alianza Latina's work has helped strengthen the voice of the Hispanic and Latino community and create opportunities for Hispanic and Latino families to thrive and contribute fully to the continued development of South Carolina; and
Whereas, National Hispanic Heritage Month provides a meaningful opportunity not only to celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, and heritage of Hispanic and Latino Americans, but also to recognize their present and future contributions to the growth, prosperity, workforce, economy, and civic life of South Carolina; and
Whereas, recognizing the growing importance of Hispanic and Latino civic participation and the opportunity for every voice to be heard and in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives extend their appreciation to Alianza Latina and celebrate the significant contributions of Hispanic and Latino South Carolinians, whose work, entrepreneurship, leadership, and service continue to strengthen the growth and prosperity of the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate and recognize Alianza Latina, in commemoration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, for its outstanding contributions to the Hispanic and Latino community of South Carolina, and recognize the growing importance of the significant contributions of Hispanic and Latino South Carolinians to the economic and social growth of the State.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Alianza Latina.
