A house RESOLUTION
to congratulate Hattie mae Green of Orangeburg County on the occasion of her one hundred and third birthday and to wish her a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Hattie Mae Green of Orangeburg County will celebrate her one hundred and third birthday on July 29, 2026; and
Whereas, Hattie Mae Green was born on July 29, 1923, in the first quarter of the twentieth century, she has witnessed many remarkable social changes, technological advancements, and international developments that have spanned the globe throughout her lifetime; and
Whereas, Mrs. Green is a devoted matriarch to her large and loving family. She is the widow of the late Deacon George Green and together they reared eight wonderful children, four of whom are still living. She has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and
Whereas, a blessed and faithful woman of God, she is the oldest member of Williams Chapel AME Church in Orangeburg, where she has dedicated her time and efforts to various roles throughout the years. Her family attributes her longevity to her unwavering dedication and hard work in the church. Mrs. Green loved worshiping with her fellow church members, and as a lover of music, loved singing her favorite song "Come by Here Lord"; and
Whereas, Mrs. Green lives at home with two of her children that care for her and aid her in daily life. She has kept her good appetite and every day she enjoys sitting at the table to eat and talk with her children at mealtimes; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to honor this daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of her one hundred and third birthday and join with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Hattie Mae Green of Orangeburg County on the occasion of her one hundred and third birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Hattie Mae Green.
