A house RESOLUTION
To recognize the Honorable Boima S. Kamara, director general of the West African Monetary Agency.
Whereas, the Honorable Boima S. Kamara, Director General of the West African Monetary Agency, is a distinguished economist whose career serves as a pillar for West African regional integration; and
Whereas, with advanced degrees from the University of Ghana and Johns Hopkins University, he has served in pivotal roles, including Minister of Finance and Development Planning for Liberia. His nonpartisan reputation for fiscal competence has made him a trusted advisor on various multilateral committees regarding regional economic health; and
Whereas, Director General Kamara is the first Liberian to head the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA). He is leading the strategic repositioning of the agency to ensure the successful implementation of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Monetary Cooperation Program. His focus on macroeconomic stability, data-driven research, and strategic communication is the engine behind the regional movement toward the Eco single currency. This ambitious framework is designed to harmonize fiscal policies across member states and reduce dependency on external reserves; and
Whereas, Director General Kamara's vision also emphasizes regional unity and collaboration among institutions like the ECOWAS Commission and the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management. By fostering these partnerships, he is creating a cohesive economic block that can withstand global volatility. His work is effectively transforming the West African Monetary Agency into a beacon of financial integration, positioning West Africa to leverage innovative finance for inclusive and sustainable growth; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives applaud the Honorable Boima S. Karama's exemplary work towards furthering West African regional integration as Director General of the West African Monetary Agency. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize the Honorable Boima S. Kamara, Director General of the West African Monetary Agency.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Boima S. Kamara.
