VERSIONS OF THIS BILL

A concurrent RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THE INTERSECTION OF CHERAW ROAD AND PARK ROAD IN THE TOWN OF CASSATT IN KERSHAW COUNTY "THOMAS C. CLARK AND AUDREE A. CLARK INTERSECTION" AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS AT THIS LOCATION CONTAINING THE DESIGNATION.

Whereas, Thomas Ceasar Clark Sr. was a dedicated resident and homeowner of Kershaw County from 1947 until his passing in 1981. A veteran of the United States Army, he faithfully served his country during World War II; and

Whereas, Mr. Clark married Audree Adamson Clark, and together they became the proud parents of eight children, seven daughters and one son, building a strong family rooted in faith, perseverance, and community; and

Whereas, Mr. Clark worked diligently to provide for his family, owning and operating a pullet farm on more than fourteen acres in Cassatt, becoming known as one of the first pullet farmers in the Cassatt community. In addition, he produced and sold vegetables at the Columbia Farmers Market, further contributing to local agriculture and commerce; and

Whereas, committed to personal growth and education, Mr. Clark earned his GED through night classes at Hickman School in Cassatt. Alongside his wife and children, he plowed, cultivated, and maintained his land, establishing a legacy of hard work and self-sufficiency; and

Whereas, the Clark family has lived, worked, and built their lives in Kershaw County for more than a century. Though the property is no longer a pullet farm, it remains a lasting testament to the family's heritage and to the enduring spirit and values instilled by Mr. and Mrs. Clark; and

Whereas, a devout Christian, Mr. Clark was a member of Canty Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee; and Mrs. Clark was a committed member of Hyco Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as missionary president for forty years. Together, they attributed their achievements to their unwavering faith and to placing God first in their lives, values they passed on to their children and grandchildren; and

Whereas, it would be only fitting and proper to honor the remarkable lives, service, and contributions of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Clark Sr. by naming an intersection in Kershaw County in recognition of their lasting impact on their community.  Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, request that the Department of Transportation name the intersection of Cheraw Road and Park Road in the Town of Cassatt in Kershaw County "Thomas C. Clark and Audree A. Clark Intersection" and erect appropriate markers or signs at this location containing the designation.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation and presented to the Clark family.
