A senate RESOLUTION

 

to honor and congratulate the members of W.J. Keenan High School Class of 1975 on their fiftieth anniversary and to encourage all who follow the Class of 1975 to draw inspiration from their example as they build their own legacies of resilience, achievement, and unity.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the members of W.J. Keenan High School Class of 1975 on the occasion of their fiftieth reunion and to commend their enduring legacy of unity, achievement, and perseverance; and

 

Whereas, in a time marked by the challenges of integration and the transformation from junior high to high school, the Class of 1975 demonstrated remarkable resilience, courage, and determination, forging a path forward in the face of uncertainty; and

 

Whereas, through unwavering resolve and a pioneering spirit, the Class of 1975 became the first to complete four full years at W.J. Keenan as a high school, setting a lasting standard of excellence for all who would follow; and

 

Whereas, the Class of 1975 achieved historic milestones, including capturing the 1975 AAAA state basketball championship, and breaking new ground by electing the school's first African American female student council president, accomplishments that reflected not only the class's talent and leadership, but also its commitment to progress and inclusion; and

 

Whereas, the bonds of friendship and unity forged by the Class of 1975 have endured for fifty years, serving as a beacon of inspiration and a testament to the power of resilience in overcoming adversity; and

 

Whereas, the legacy of the Class of 1975 continues to empower and uplift future generations, demonstrating that true progress is born from perseverance, vision, and the courage to break new ground. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, honor and congratulate the members of W.J. Keenan High School Class of 1975 on their fiftieth anniversary and encourage all who follow the Class of 1975 to draw inspiration from their example as they build their own legacies of resilience, achievement, and unity.
