A senate RESOLUTION

to recognize and honor Eagle Scouts Willie Rudolph Townes III, Derwyn Ikeem Brailey, Khamari Dajon Cleckley, Sean Antonio Nimmons, and Melvin Edward Hart Jr. upon their induction as Eagle Scouts, to commend Scouting America Troops 500 and 190 for their historic accomplishment, and to express sincere gratitude to Scoutmasters Ron Mosley and Ernest E. Nimmons for their exemplary leadership and service.

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is pleased to recognize exceptional young citizens who demonstrate leadership, character, and a sustained commitment to community service; and

Whereas, Scouting America's rank of Eagle Scout is the highest distinction in scouting and is earned by only a small percentage of scouts who complete rigorous requirements in leadership, service, outdoor skills, and civic responsibility; and

Whereas, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, during an Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Orangeburg, five members of Scouting America Troops 500 and 190 were inducted as Eagle Scouts; and

Whereas, the distinguished honorees are Eagle Scouts Willie Rudolph Townes III of Troop 190, Derwyn Ikeem Brailey of Troop 500, Khamari Dajon Cleckley of Troop 500, Sean Antonio Nimmons of Troop 500, and Melvin Edward Hart Jr. of Troop 500; and

Whereas, their joint induction represents a historic milestone for South Carolina, marking the largest group of African American Eagle Scouts inducted together, and stands as a powerful and fitting achievement recognized during Black History Month; and

Whereas, as Black History Month celebrates past trailblazers, these five Eagle Scouts are building a living legacy of service, excellence, and leadership for the next generation of South Carolinians; and

Whereas, this achievement reflects not only the individual determination of these scouts but also the steadfast mentorship and guidance of Scoutmasters Ron Mosley and Ernest E. Nimmons, whose leadership and dedication have helped shape these young men into leaders of character and purpose; and

Whereas, the Senate further recognizes Scouting America Troops 500 and 190, the families of the scouts, and their faith and community partners for providing the encouragement and support necessary to reach this extraordinary accomplishment; and

Whereas, it is proper and fitting for the members of the South Carolina Senate to honor these outstanding young men and those who helped guide them to this high achievement.  Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and honor Eagle Scouts Willie Rudolph Townes III, Derwyn Ikeem Brailey, Khamari Dajon Cleckley, Sean Antonio Nimmons, and Melvin Edward Hart Jr. upon their induction as Eagle Scouts, commend Scouting America Troops 500 and 190 for their historic accomplishment, and express sincere gratitude to Scoutmasters Ron Mosley and Ernest E. Nimmons for their exemplary leadership and service.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Eagle Scouts Willie Rudolph Townes III, Derwyn Ikeem Brailey, Khamari Dajon Cleckley, Sean Antonio Nimmons, and Melvin Edward Hart Jr. and Scoutmasters Ron Mosley and Ernest E. Nimmons.
