Deliberations were opened with prayer by Rev. Jeff Lingerfelt as follows:

Our thought for today is from Psalm 34:19: "Many are the afflictions of the righteous; But the LORD delivers him out of them all."
Let us pray. O Lord, God our Father, You are Holy, Holy, Holy. We are to consider it pure joy when we encounter trials of many kinds, because we know that the testing of our faith develops perseverance. Allow perseverance to have its maturing work, so that we may be built up and complete, not lacking anything. May our leaders strive to consider what is the best out of all that is good today. Grant wisdom and knowledge to all, so that, Your will might benefit this great state. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.

H. 5182 (Word version) -- Reps. Hager, Erickson and W. Newton: A BILL TO AUTHORIZE THE JASPER COUNTY COUNCIL TO PROVIDE LOCAL FUNDS ON A PER-PUPIL BASIS TO CHARTER SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTY THAT SATISFY CERTAIN CRITERIA, AND TO PROVIDE THE COUNCIL MAY DESIGNATE AND ALLOCATE ANY COUNTY REVENUE SOURCE FOR ALLOCATION TO ELIGIBLE CHARTER SCHOOLS PURSUANT TO THE SUBSECTION.
