Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Boards of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Dr. Charles B. Thomas, Jr. of Simpsonville had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Dr. Charles B. Thomas, Jr. was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Charles B. Thomas, Jr. was duly elected to the position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, Fourth Congressional District, for the term prescribed by law.

Fifth Congressional District

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, Fifth Congressional District.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Boards of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Dr. Cotesworth P. Fishburne, Jr. of Rock Hill had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Dr. Cotesworth P. Fishburne, Jr. was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Cotesworth P. Fishburne, Jr. was duly elected to the position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, Fifth Congressional District, for the term prescribed by law.

Sixth Congressional District

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, Sixth Congressional District.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Boards of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Dr. E. Conyers O'Bryan of Florence had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Dr. E. Conyers O'Bryan was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable E. Conyers O'Bryan was duly elected to the position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, Sixth Congressional District, for the term prescribed by law.

Non-Medical

First Congressional District

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, First Congressional District.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Boards of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Mr. Melvyn Berlinsky of Charleston had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. Melvyn Berlinsky was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Melvyn Berlinsky was duly elected to the position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, First Congressional District, for the term prescribed by law.

Second Congressional District

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, Second Congressional District.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Boards of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Mr. H. Donald McElveen of Columbia had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. H. Donald McElveen was placed in nomination.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable H. Donald McElveen was duly elected to the position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, Second Congressional District, for the term prescribed by law.

Third Congressional District

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, Third Congressional District.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Boards of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Mr. Jack F. McIntosh of Anderson and Mr. Fred Moore of Honea Path had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the names of Mr. Jack F. McIntosh and Mr. Fred Moore were placed in nomination.

The Clerk of the Senate called the roll of the Senate and the Senators voted viva voce as their names were called.
