A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE DUTCH FORK REPUBLICAN WOMEN ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY, AND TO WISH ITS MEMBERS ALL THE BEST IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, it is appropriate that the South Carolina House of Representatives honors those individuals who actively participate in our State's political process and governance, keeping abreast of the current issues and inspiring further political activism; and

Whereas, on May 15, 1976, thirty-seven women gathered at Seven Oaks Recreation Center and formed the Dutch Fork Republican Women; and

Whereas, for the past thirty years, the Dutch Fork Republican Women have been an outstanding force in the Lexington County political community and have served as a prized auxiliary to the Lexington County Republican Party; and

Whereas, the organization's faithful founding officers were Ann Ward, Ginny Edge Miller, Mary Carr, Helen Smith, Frances Bowen, and Jill Bauer. Together, these women created a vision that has sustained the organization through the years; and

Whereas, on May 15, 2006, the Dutch Fork Republican Women met at the original location to celebrate thirty years of memories and service to the Lexington County Republican Party and to the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the current officers of the Dutch Fork Republican Women are: Gayle McLean, Taryn Shekitka, Rema Gantt Thomas, Sandra Payne, and Susan Brazelle; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives take great pleasure in recognizing the many and varied contributions of the Dutch Fork Republican Women over the course of its rich thirty year history. Certainly, the dedicated women, both past and present, who have given so generously of their time, talents, and energy are to be commended for their dedication and willingness to take an active role in the political process in our great State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Dutch Fork Republican Women on the occasion of their thirtieth anniversary, and wish its members all the best in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the President of the Dutch Fork Republican Women.
