AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 40-79-30, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE DEFINITION OF "ALARM SYSTEM BUSINESS" FOR PURPOSE OF ITS REGULATION BY THE LICENSING BOARD FOR CONTRACTORS, AND ACTIVITIES WHICH ARE NOT CONSIDERED WITHIN THE MEANING OF THIS DEFINITION, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THIS TERM DOES NOT INCLUDE OR APPLY TO A BUSINESS OR INDIVIDUAL SUBJECT TO LICENSING OR REGISTRATION UNDER THE RESIDENTIAL HOME BUILDERS LAW WHO INSTALLS FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS THAT ARE NOT MONITORED IN RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS OR STRUCTURES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Additional exception

SECTION 1. Section 40-79-30(B) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 360 of 1992, is further amended by adding subitem (8) to read:

"(8) a business or individual subject to licensing or registration under Chapter 59 of this title who installs fire alarm systems that are not monitored in a building or structure described in Section 40-59-10."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
