AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 40-15-80, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH A PERSON IS CONSIDERED TO BE PRACTICING DENTAL HYGIENE, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT UPON CERTIFICATION AND UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A DENTIST A DENTAL HYGIENIST MAY ADMINISTER INFILTRATION ANESTHESIA.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Conditions under which dental hygienist may administer infiltration anesthesia
SECTION 1. Section 40-15-80 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 439 of 1988, is further amended by adding at the end:
"(E) Upon certification by the board and when under the direct supervision of a practicing dentist, a dental hygienist may administer infiltration anesthesia."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
