A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

SALUTING MR. OLLIE I. STUKES OF CLARENDON COUNTY, WHO ON OCTOBER 19, 1995, WILL CELEBRATE SEVENTY YEARS AS A BARBER IN MANNING AND WISHING HIM MANY, MANY MORE YEARS OF CONTINUED GOOD HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, Mr. Ollie I. Stukes of Clarendon County will celebrate seventy years as a barber in Manning on October 19, 1995; and

Whereas, Mr. Stukes works in the same building where he went to work for another barber in 1925 and later purchased a shop; and

Whereas, Mr. Stukes is eighty-nine years young and works every day except Wednesday, which he has traditionally taken off since that is the day the store is traditionally closed in the Town of Manning; and

Whereas, he contributed two terms of distinguished service as a member of the South Carolina Barber Board and is recognized and admired for this service by other barbers across South Carolina; and

Whereas, Ollie Stukes is most definitely the dean of his profession; and

Whereas, he is a highly respected community leader and church member, is active in civic affairs and causes, and is loved by all who know him; and

Whereas, he is a Manning and Clarendon County institution and tradition; and

Whereas, he is a delightful and outstanding individual, and the members of the General Assembly are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize him in this special manner. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, salutes Mr. Ollie I. Stukes of Clarendon County, who on October 19, 1995, will celebrate seventy years as a barber in Manning and wishes him many, many more years of continued good health and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Stukes.
