A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING UNION HIGH SCHOOL ON CAPTURING ITS SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE NATIONAL SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP, ON WINNING THE SCHOLASTIC CATEGORY OF THE 1995 NATIONAL NRA JUNIOR THREE POSITION SMALLBORE RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIPS, AND ON SECURING ITS THIRD CONSECUTIVE NATIONAL SCHOLASTIC AIR RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, Union High captured its seventh straight and eighth overall national shooting crown by winning the Scholastic Category of the 1995 National NRA Junior Three Position Smallbore Rifle Championships; and

Whereas, Union High also won its third consecutive National Scholastic Air Rifle Championships; and

Whereas, Union finished second overall in the match involving 148 other teams; and

Whereas, Union has a winning percentage of .960 in national competition since the 1980's; and

Whereas, the winning smallbore team consisted of members David and Darren Fowler, Rob Toney, and Mark Robinson; and

Whereas, the winning air rifle team consisted of members David and Darren Fowler and Rob Toney; and

Whereas, Mark Robinson is the National Military Scholastic Smallbore Rifle Champion; and

Whereas, Darren Fowler is the National Military Scholastic Air Rifle Champion; and

Whereas, the Union High shooting program has received over 17 national awards for its very outstanding shooting; and

Whereas, Union High School's success in this area has been phenomenal, and the school's shooting team and program have brought recognition and honor to the entire State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, all South Carolinians are genuinely proud of the team's accomplishments, which are greatly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Union School on capturing its seventh consecutive National Shooting Championship and on winning the Scholastic Category of the 1995 National NRA Junior Three Position Smallbore Rifle Championships, and on securing its third consecutive National Scholastic Air Rifle Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Union High School Rifle Team, in care of Paul Davis, Union High School, 1163 Lakeside Drive, Union, South Carolina 29379.
