AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 1139 OF 1968, RELATING TO THE SCHOOL BOARD OF TRUSTEES IN SALUDA COUNTY, SO AS TO DELETE A PROVISION WHICH REQUIRES THE SCHOOL BUDGET AND TAX LEVY TO BE SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF A MAJORITY OF THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS RESIDING IN SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 1.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Budget
SECTION 1. The last paragraph of Section 3 of Act 1139 of 1968 (codified as Section 21-3953.1 of the 1962 Code of Laws) is amended to read:
"The board of trustees shall annually establish a school budget for the district and determine the necessary tax millage to provide for such budget. The budget and tax levy shall be read three times and approved at three consecutive meetings of the board of trustees and the tax millage published in a newspaper of general circulation in the county at least thirty days prior to the third reading. The amount of the school budget and tax levy shall be subject to the approval of a majority of the county governing body."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
