A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO ASSISTING, DEVELOPING, AND EVALUATING PROFESSIONAL TEACHING (ADEPT), DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2223, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The regulations of the Department of Education, relating to Assisting, Developing, and Evaluating Professional Teaching (ADEPT), designated as Regulation Document Number 2223, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.

The South Carolina Department of Education, Office of Teacher Education, Certification and Evaluation amends Regulation 43-205.1. The current Regulation, R43-205.1 Evaluation of Teachers Employed under Annual and Continuing Contracts, defines minimum criteria for an acceptable instrument to be used for evaluating annual and continuing contract teachers. The amended Regulation, R43-205.1 Assisting, Developing, and Evaluating Professional Teaching (ADEPT), will establish the South Carolina System for Assisting, Developing, and Evaluating Professional Teaching (ADEPT) as required by 1997 Act No. 72.
