Indicates New Matter

The Senate assembled at 11:00 A.M., the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.
A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:

Beloved, hear a word about Daniel, recorded in the Book of Daniel, Chapter 6 (v. 10):
"When Daniel knew that the document had
been signed, he went to his house where
he had windows in his upper chamber open
toward Jerusalem; and he got down on his
knees three times a day and prayed and
gave thanks before his God..."
Let us pray.
We thank You, O Lord, for the remembrance of Daniel and his faith in his God and the guidance he sought and received from the God of the Temple in Jerusalem.
Grant that this day the windows of our hearts may be open toward You in order that we, too, may have the spiritual resources to live, and succeed, in a difficult world as God-fearing men and women of faith.
When truth is distorted, and the emotions of peoples like raging waters, whether in the Middle East or anywhere in the world, make policy and decisions of our government difficult in the turbulent cross currents of our modern life, give to our leaders the instincts to discern the truth, and the wisdom and patience... and kindness... that were given to Daniel long ago.
In the Name of Daniel's God!
Amen.
