TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 23-6-142 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR REIMBURSEMENT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FROM THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT OF A SCHOOL, COLLEGE, OR UNIVERSITY WHICH HOLDS AN ATHLETIC EVENT FOR THE COST OF A COMMISSIONED TROOPER TO PERFORM TRAFFIC, CROWD, OR PEDESTRIAN CONTROL AT THE EVENT IF THE OFFICIAL ATTENDANCE OF THE EVENT IS MORE THAN FIFTY THOUSAND.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 23-6-142. If a commissioned trooper is required to provide traffic, crowd, or pedestrian control at an athletic event, the athletic department of the school, college, or university at which the event is held must reimburse the Department of Public Safety for the cost, on an hourly basis, of providing these services if the official attendance of the event is more than fifty thousand."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
