(A233, R274, H3867)

AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 57-5-195 SO AS TO NAME THE I-526 BRIDGE AND INTERCHANGE THAT SPAN U.S. HIGHWAY 17 AND U.S. HIGHWAY 7 IN CHARLESTON COUNTY AS THE "BOB HARRELL BRIDGE AND INTERCHANGE" IN HONOR OF THIS DISTINGUISHED SOUTH CAROLINIAN.

Whereas, Robert W. Harrell, Sr., is a prominent and respected business and civic leader in Charleston who has contributed greatly to the Charleston community over a long and distinguished career; and

Whereas, as a successful businessman whose place of business is located in close proximity to this bridge location, Mr. Harrell has earned the respect and admiration of all those with whom he has contact; and

Whereas, he has been especially active in transportation matters and has worked in many capacities to improve transportation in Charleston and in South Carolina. He was instrumental in the development of I-526 known as the Mark Clark Expressway and twice served as a South Carolina Highway Commissioner from the First Congressional District; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly believe it would be a fitting tribute to this outstanding individual to name the I-526 bridge and interchange that span U.S. Highway 17 and U.S. Highway 7 in his honor. Now, therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Time effective
