A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE DETERMINATION AND DEDICATION OF THE INDIAN LAND HIGH SCHOOL LADY WARRIORS VOLLEYBALL TEAM THIS SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2001 CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the Indian Land High School volleyball team demonstrated tremendous dedication and determination during practice as well as games all season to win the 2001 Class A State Championship; and

Whereas, the Lady Warriors finished the season with an exceptional record of twenty-five wins and only five losses; and

Whereas, the members of this championship team include: Kimberly McClennen, Whitney Patterson, Gwen Brown, Olivia Terzo, Amanda Boatwright, Emily Furr, Kennedy Choate, Ashley Harris, Cristi Clement, Katy Parry, Tanisha Morrison, Megan Gray, Cynthia Campbell, Nichole Chapman, and Jean-Marie Harris; and

Whereas, Head Coach Tamara Jacobus, with the aid of Assistant Coach Tommy Patterson, guided the Lady Warriors with great skill all season. The team also was assisted by managers Chris Cooke and Kevin Mager and scorekeeper Lauren Mager; and

Whereas, Kimberly McClennen, Whitney Patterson, Emily Furr, and Olivia Terzo were named to the All-Region Team, and Kimberly McClennen and Emily Furr were selected for the All-State Team; and

Whereas, Emily Furr was chosen the Region and Coaches Association of Women's Sports Class A Player of the Year, and Kimberly McClennen was named to the Coaches Association of Women's Sports North/South All-Star Team; and

Whereas, this outstanding group of young ladies is not only talented on the volleyball court, but many of these athletes also compete in other sports and are involved in numerous extra-curricular activities; and

Whereas, as involved as the Lady Warriors are, they still manage to excel in the classroom. Nine of the girls made the "A/B" Honor Roll and two are on the All "A" Honor Roll; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is proud to recognize such a well-rounded and enthusiastic group of young ladies as the Indian Land High School volleyball team on the occasion of this championship win. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly commend the determination and dedication of the Indian Land High School Lady Warriors volleyball team this season and congratulate them for winning the 2001 Class A State Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Indian Land High School Lady Warriors volleyball team.
