A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE YOUNG ORATOR, WORDSMITH, AND STORYTELLER, RIXON LANE OF WOODRUFF, FOR HIS FIRST PLACE FINISH AT THE NATIONAL STORYTELLING YOUTH OLYMPICS IN CALIFORNIA IN APRIL AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Rixon Lane, a ten-year-old from Woodruff, is an avid storyteller and placed first in his age group against thirteen other storytellers at the National Storytelling Youth Olympics in California; and

Whereas, Rixon Lane, the son of Theo and Lisa Lane, began telling stories at a very young age and was influenced by his grandfather, who brought him tapes and took him to national storytelling festivals; and

Whereas, the young storyteller told his first story at age five, and he has been practicing and polishing his skills ever since with occasional coaching from his mother; and

Whereas, he captivates his audiences by acting out parts of his stories and using different voices for the different characters; and

Whereas, since a good story is important, Rixon Lane prefers to tell stories by other authors and particularly likes professional storyteller Donald Davis' exciting and adventuresome tales; and

Whereas, Rixon Lane also performed with national, regional, and other youth storytellers at the Stone Soup Storytelling Festival in Woodruff; and

Whereas, it is with appreciation and pleasure that the General Assembly recognizes such an eloquent and well-spoken young person as Rixon Lane. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate young orator, wordsmith, and storyteller, Rixon Lane of Woodruff, for his first place finish at the National Storytelling Youth Olympics in California in April and wish him much success in his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Rixon Lane of Woodruff.
