A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING ARTICLE 5 TO CHAPTER 3, TITLE 44 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT FEES GENERATED BY LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS MAY BE RETAINED BY THESE DEPARTMENTS FOR OPERATING EXPENSES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 3, Title 44 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Article 5

Local Health Department Fees

Section 44-3-510.    Notwithstanding any other provision of law, fees generated by services rendered by local public health departments may be retained by these local departments for operating expenses."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
