Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the South Carolina Senate commends those individuals who tirelessly give of their time in benefit of our sons and daughters, guiding them in becoming the men and women they are destined to become; and

Whereas, a devoted family man, Mr. Duensing and his wife, Jane, are the proud parents of two children, Bryan and Mary Rebecca; and

Whereas, Mr. Duensing served as choral director for Lower Richland High School from 1976 until 1978 and then became the beloved choral director of Richland Northeast High School. There, he has made immeasurable contributions in the lives of his many students in his twenty-eight years at the school, leading the Cavalier Chorale to consistent superior ratings at regional and national festivals; and

Whereas, Mr. Duensing, who has been with the Tri District Arts Consortium for nineteen of its twenty-one years and who has served as director of the Consortium for the past nine years, has provided outstanding leadership and vision to the program. After a rigorous application and audition process, students are admitted to participate in orchestra, band, chorus, visual arts, drama, creative writing, and dance; and

Whereas, the Tri District Arts Consortium is the jewel of Lexington One, Lexington/Richland Five, and Richland Two School Districts, and is the proud winner of the coveted Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Award; and

Whereas, in addition to his teaching, Mr. Duensing has served as a bi-vocational minister of music for thirty years and currently serves at Lugoff First Baptist Church. He also shares his love for music with his wife, and together they have composed a full-length Easter musical, "Worthy and Wonderful"; and

Whereas, in 1999 he was named a Fullbright Memorial Fund Scholar and studied for three weeks in Japan as a guest of the Japanese government, visiting Hiroshima schools. Also Mr. and Mrs. Duensing are on the Board of Directors of Life International in Donetsk, Ukraine and have led televised crusades in that country; and

Whereas, the Senate is proud to recognize Mr. Duensing for his exceptional commitment to South Carolina education and to the Arts and is certain that he will continue to touch countless lives in the years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:
