A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-43-50 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A TIME LIMIT MAY NOT BE IMPOSED UPON SENIOR CITIZENS WHO TAKE THE GENERAL EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT EXAM, AND TO DEFINE CERTAIN TERMS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 43, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-43-50.    (A)    The administrator of the tests contained in the General Educational Development Exam battery may not impose a time limit for completion of the tests on senior citizens.

(B)    For purposes of this section, 'senior citizen' means a person who is sixty years of age or older."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
