The Senate assembled at 12:00 Noon, the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the ACTING PRESIDENT, Senator WILSON.

A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:

Beloved, we all know that whether in our relations with the United Nations, our United States, or our beloved South Carolina, we are in various forms of crisis. Let us stake out a goal. Hear the Psalmist in Psalm 133:

"How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in

unity!

It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard,

on the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes.

It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion.

For there the Lord ordained His blessing, life forevermore."
Let us pray.

Our Father, we are in a crisis of identity... a crisis of perception... a crisis of communication!

We are in a conceptual wilderness!

We pray for a divine catalyst of enlightenment!

In our wilderness show us a path toward the fulfillment of the Psalmist's dream: "How very good and pleasant it is when brethren (kindred) live together in unity!"

This is our hope... and our prayer!
Amen.

The PRESIDENT called for Petitions, Memorials, Presentments of Grand Juries and such like papers.

Leave of Absence

On motion of Senator HUTTO, at 11:03 A.M., Senator DRUMMOND was granted a leave of absence for today.
