H 2623 General Bill, By R.S. Corning and W.S. McCain
    A Bill to amend Section 16-3-20, as amended, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to punishment for murder and the separate sentencing proceeding for the determination of death or life imprisonment, so as to change the sentencing procedure by having the jury deliberate and render an advisory sentence to the court and by having the court decide the sentence to be imposed; and to amend Section 16-3-25, relating to punishment for murder and review by the Supreme Court of the imposition of the death penalty, so as to conform the language contained therein to the changes made in Section 16-3-20.
