A Bill to amend Article 1, Chapter 5, Title 39, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to the South Carolina Unfair Trade Practices Act, by adding Section 39-5-25 so as to provide that insurance companies doing business in this State are also subject to the provisions of this Act, and that improper claims practices engaged in by an insurance company are unfair or deceptive acts or practices within the meaning of this Act thereby subjecting the insurance company to the rights, remedies, and enforcement provisions of this Act, and to amend Section 39-5-40, relating to the inapplicability of the Act to certain matters, so as to delete the exclusion of certain insurance practices from the provisions of this Act.
