 late Honorable James Marion Brown of Mountain Rest, South Carolina.

A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO OFFER CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE HONORABLE JAMES MARION BROWN OF MOUNTAIN REST, SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, upon the death of the Honorable James Marion Brown on Friday, May 6, l994, South Carolina lost a great individual who had a positive influence upon the lives of students, teachers, and administrators, and

Whereas, Mr. Brown dedicated forty-four years of his life to public education in Oconee County serving as teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, principal, and director of federal projects; and

Whereas, Mr. Brown served as Area Superintendent for the Westminster area, an interim superintendent of education in l98l and l988, and Superintendent of Education from l988 until his death; and

Whereas, he was actively involved in community and church endeavors as evidenced by his service as a member of the Board of Trustees for Furman University and Anderson College, a member of the Walhalla Rotary Club where he held the positions of president, secretary, and member of the Board of Directors, and was a member of Mountain Rest Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, a member of the Sanctuary Choir, and church organist. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That condolences be offered to the family and many friends of the late honorable James Marion Brown of Mountain Rest, South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the widow of Mr. James M. Brown as an expression of appreciation, sympathy, and support.
