A JOINT RESOLUTION TO CREATE A COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE THE EXISTING DEER DEPREDATION PROBLEM AND THE DEPREDATION PERMITTING SYSTEM.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Subcommittee created

Section 1. A subcommittee of the Senate Fish, Game and Forestry Committee and the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee is created to investigate the deer depredation problem and the depredation permitting system.

The subcommittee shall be composed of six members, three of whom shall be appointed by the Chairman of the Senate Fish, Game and Forestry Committee from its membership and three of whom shall be appointed by the Chairman of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee from its membership. The subcommittee shall meet as soon after its appointment as may be practicable and shall organize by electing one of its members chairman and one vice-chairman and such other officers as it may deem desirable. The subcommittee shall meet only on session days. The subcommittee shall meet thereafter upon call of the chairman or a majority of its members. The subcommittee may confer with any person or organization that will be helpful in its study. All state agencies shall cooperate with this subcommittee in helping it to carry out the purpose of this resolution. The subcommittee shall make its report and recommendations to the General Assembly no later than March 1, 1983, and after making such report shall dissolve.

The members of the subcommittee shall receive per diem, subsistence and mileage as provided by law for members of state boards, committees and commissions.

The expenses of the subcommittee shall be paid from the approved accounts of both houses.

The Legislative Council shall provide such legal services as the subcommittee may require in the performance of its duties.

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
