Passailaigue
A Senate Resolution expressing the sympathy of the members of the Senate to
the family and many friends of the late Virginia W. Logan of Charleston.

04/08/92 Senate Introduced and adopted SJ-21

A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE VIRGINIA W. LOGAN OF CHARLESTON.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Virginia Watson Logan of Charleston who died March 1, 1992; and

Whereas, Mrs. Logan, a native of Greenwood, the daughter of the late Harry Legare and Ella Dargan Watson and a graduate of Agnes Scott College, was for many years an advertising staff employee of the Charleston Post-Courier; and

Whereas, Mrs. Logan was the past president of the South Carolina Historical Society. The only woman ever to have held that post, she served on its board for many years as curator and chairman of publications; and

Whereas, in addition to her distinguished service with the Historical Society, she was deeply involved in numerous community activities, serving on the boards of the Junior League of Charleston, the Confederate Home, the Ladies Benevolent Society, and the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, and serving as a den mother for the Cub Scouts of the Boy Scouts of America; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations so that they might note the passing of so distinguished a daughter of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate express sympathy to the family and many friends of the late Virginia W. Logan of Charleston.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to her husband, W. Hampton Logan, Jr.
