the family and many friends of the late Virginia W. Logan of Charleston.

A SENATE RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE
SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE
VIRGINIA W. LOGAN OF CHARLESTON.
Whereas, the members of the Senate were saddened to learn of the death
of Mrs. Virginia Watson Logan of Charleston who died March 1, 1992;
and
Whereas, Mrs. Logan, a native of Greenwood, the daughter of the late
Harry Legare and Ella Dargan Watson and a graduate of Agnes Scott
College, was for many years an advertising staff employee of the
Charleston Post-Courier; and
Whereas, Mrs. Logan was the past president of the South Carolina
Historical Society. The only woman ever to have held that post, she
served on its board for many years as curator and chairman of
publications; and
Whereas, in addition to her distinguished service with the Historical
Society, she was deeply involved in numerous community activities,
serving on the boards of the Junior League of Charleston, the
Confederate Home, the Ladies Benevolent Society, and the National
Society of Colonial Dames of America, and serving as a den mother for
the Cub Scouts of the Boy Scouts of America; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the Senate to pause in their
deliberations so that they might note the passing of so distinguished a
daughter of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate express sympathy to the family and
many friends of the late Virginia W. Logan of Charleston.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to her
husband, W. Hampton Logan, Jr.
