family and friends of Mr. Marion M. Thomas, distinguished member of the
Chester County Council for over thirty years.

A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO EXTEND THE SYMPATHY OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF MR. MARION M. THOMAS,
DISTINGUISHED MEMBER OF THE CHESTER COUNTY
COUNCIL FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS.
Whereas, there is no higher social calling than to give of oneself in
public service to his fellow men and women and;
Whereas, Marion M. Thomas epitomized what society has come to
love and respect in their most dedicated public servants, and;
Whereas, Marion Thomas after serving his country in World War II
returned to his home to establish himself as a farmer and businessman
and;
Whereas, he began service as a member of Chester County Council in
1960 and served continuously for thirty-two years, and;
Whereas, he accomplished this arduous task while giving selflessly to
his family, his church, and his community, and;
Whereas, his record of service and his contributions to the citizens of
Chester County and the State of South Carolina will live long in our
memory, Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the General Assembly extends it's deepest sympathy to the
family and many friends of Marion M. Thomas, Distinguished
Veteran, Public Servant and Community Leader.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Mrs. Darlene Carter Thomas.
