RESOLUTION
COMMENDING JACK C. ANDERSON, JR., FOR HIS
OUTSTANDING AND DEDICATED LEADERSHIP AS DEAN OF
THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA - SUMTER, AND
EXTENDING HIM BEST WISHES FOR HAPPINESS FOLLOWING
HIS RETIREMENT.
Whereas, Jack C. Anderson, Jr., has served as dean of the University of
South Carolina - Sumter since 1973; and
Whereas, Dean Anderson attended Louisiana State University, the
University of Southwestern Louisiana, Clemson University, and the
University of South Carolina; and
Whereas, he has given generously of his time and talents over the years
to his church, Grace Baptist Church of Sumter, and to many civic
organizations and causes, including the Boy Scouts, the Lions Club, the
Rotary Club, the Gallery of Art, the Chamber of Commerce, the
Committee for Progress, the Industrial Association, and the
Shaw/Sumter Community Council; and
Whereas, he has been a dynamic leader at USC-Sumter, instilling in his
professors there his own enthusiasm for educating students in the best
possible manner; and
Whereas, he has shown individual attention to each of the students at
USC-Sumter and, by doing so, has generated a thirst for knowledge in
all of them; and
Whereas, his talents and his success have been recognized and honored
by the Sumter Commission for Higher Education, which has named the
library on the Sumter campus the "Jack C. Anderson, Jr.,
Library"; and
Whereas, after twenty years of superb leadership, this outstanding
individual of high principle and of great determination and drive is
retiring as the dean at USC-Sumter; and
Whereas, Dean Anderson is highly deserving of recognition and of an
expression of gratitude for all that he has accomplished in the area of
higher education in South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, commends Jack C. Anderson, Jr., for his outstanding and
dedicated leadership as dean of the University of South Carolina -
Sumter and extends to him best wishes for happiness following his
retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dean
Anderson.
