A Bill to create the Associated Automobile Insurers of South Carolina so as to
provide automobile coverage for all eligible participants and to amend Article
19 of Chapter 37, Title 38, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to
the cancellation of and refusal to renew or issue automobile liability
insurance policies, so as to provide that a policy of automobile insurance
either be written alone or with optional coverage and to remove references to
the Automobile Assigned Risk Plan, and to permit designated insurance agents
to continue to be licensed as an agent for the Associated Automobile Insurers
and as designated agents solely for renewing automobile policies for one
renewal term and that the nonrenewal provisions with stated exceptions are not
applicable unless a policy has been in force for sixty days or more and to
repeal Articles 1, 3, 5, 9, 11, 15 and 17 of Chapter 37, Title 38, relating to
regulation of automobile liability insurance and the South Carolina
Reinsurance Facility.
