A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
SALUTING JOHN MCKISSICK, LEGENDARY SUMMERVILLE
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH, WHO HAS WON MORE
FOOTBALL GAMES THAN ANY OTHER COACH IN HISTORY.
Whereas, John McKissick is truly a living legend; and
Whereas, he is the head coach of the Summerville High School
football team and holds the record for winning more games than any
other coach in history; and
Whereas, Coach McKissick is much more than a superb football
coach; he is also an educator of the highest caliber; and
Whereas, he has devoted his life to teaching young men not only the
skills of a tough, competitive sport but also life skills; under him more
than a thousand young men have learned the importance of hard work,
dedication, and the value of team effort; and
Whereas, Coach McKissick has served as a genuine role model for
young men and is revered by them for his fairness and his firmness;
and
Whereas, his highly successful winning record in high school football,
his unequaled knowledge of the sport, and his wonderful personal
qualities have served to spread his outstanding reputation all across
this great American land of ours; and
Whereas, the 1993 football season was Coach McKissick's
forty-second at Summerville High; during this period of time, his
Greenwave football teams have won twenty-three conference titles and
nine state championships; he has been inducted into the South Carolina
Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame; and, during the 1993
season, he achieved every coach's dream, the record for most career
victories, with a record of 412 wins, 86 losses, and 13 ties; and
Whereas, Summerville High School, Dorchester School District Two,
the Town of Summerville, and the State of South Carolina have
benefited positively from the achievements of John McKissick, a man
and a coach who is most highly deserving of recognition. Now,
therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, salutes John McKissick, legendary Summerville High
School football coach, who has won more football games than any
other coach in history.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Coach McKissick.
