 STAFF.

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND BISHOPVILLE'S LEE CENTRAL COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL LADY STALLIONS BASKETBALL TEAM ON ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2007 CLASS AA STATE GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.

Whereas, well prepared for the challenge, the Lee Central Comprehensive High School Lady Stallions basketball team crowned its superlative season by capturing the 2007 Class AA State Girls Basketball Championship title, defeating Broome 58-44 at Columbia's Colonial Center on Saturday, March 3, 2007; and

Whereas, championship play in basketball demands individual strength, agility, and skill, as well as team play and good sportsmanship; and

Whereas, using these talents and attributes, Coach Dorothy Fortune, Coach James Dizzley, assistants Tiffany McDuffie and Linda Blythers, and the players showed fans and foes alike that the Lady Stallions' winning of this victory was no lucky accident; and

Whereas, these tenacious athletes, demonstrating both poise and class, made it their fifth state championship in the last seven years, the fact that the school has been in existence only seven years making their exciting record even more remarkable; and

Whereas, the championship team members are Whitley Smith, Jalisa Williams, Shamara Hammett, Soleighta Fortune, Brittany Goodson, Keisha Wilson, Lavetra Peterson, Staci Holmes, Denisha Kirven, Lechell Rush, Shakenya Adams, Shatericka Campbell, Geneivier Wilson, and Whitney Murphy; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing the young women of the Lee Central Comprehensive High School girls basketball team for leading with excellence both in the classroom and on the basketball court and expects to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend Bishopville's Lee Central Comprehensive High School "Lady Stallions" basketball team on its outstanding season and its impressive win of the 2007 Class AA State Girls Basketball Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the principal of Lee Central Comprehensive High School, Leevette E. Malloy, and Head Coach LaVerne Knox.
