A Bill to amend Act 690 of 1976, as amended, relating to various judicial
provisions, so as to declare the Probate Courts of this State to be a part of
the Unified Judicial System; to amend Section 8-21-760, Code of Laws of South
Carolina, 1976, relating to Probate Judges' salaries, so as to require the
governing body of each county to fund operations of the Probate Court except
for the salaries of judges; to amend the 1976 Code by adding Section 8-21-765,
so as to establish a salary schedule for judges based on population which must
be funded by the General Assembly; and to amend Act 150 of 1979, as amended,
relating to the Retirement for Judges and Solicitors, so as to include Probate
Judges within the System.
