H 2405 General Bill, By House Judiciary
A Bill to provide a uniform minimum compensation plan for magistrates, provide
the funding of magistrates' courts, increase the civil jurisdiction, and
permit a county to have one part-time or a ministerial magistrate or a
part-time magistrate instead of a full-time magistrate and provide for his
compensation; to amend Section 22-3-10, as amended, Code of Laws of South
Carolina, 1976, relating to the civil jurisdiction of magistrates, so as to
increase the costs for various actions tried before a magistrate; and to
repeal Section 19 of Part III of Act 164 of 1979, relating to the compensation
for magistrates.
