 DISTRICT UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS.

TO AMEND SECTION 59-19-90, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES OF SCHOOL TRUSTEES, SO AS TO AUTHORIZE LOCAL BOARDS OF TRUSTEES TO SET THE ANNUAL CALENDAR FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 59-19-90 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 458 of 1996, is further amended by adding a new item at the end to read:

"(12)    Set the annual calendar for the school district in order to designate three days for students and employees for the makeup of days missed due to snow, extreme weather conditions, or other disruptions and authorize with a majority vote of the board the granting of a waiver to the provisions of Section 59-1-420 and Section 59-1-430 once the three designated days have been used and additional make-up days are needed."

SECTION    2    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
