Whereas, the Honorable William P. Wallace, Sr., served for many years as the elected Marlboro County Supervisor; and

Whereas, he also served the citizens of Wallace for many years as a member of the Marlboro County Council; and

Whereas, Mr. Wallace's tenure as a public servant spanned more than thirty years, a period in which he contributed greatly to the quality of life of the citizens of his district and county; and

Whereas, he was a strong supporter of economic development and other responsible measures undertaken by Marlboro County under his leadership; and

Whereas, last year, upon his retirement as a member of the Marlboro County Council, his daughter, the Honorable Jean Wallace McLean, was elected to his former council seat thereby carrying on the Wallace family's long tradition of public service that began with William P. Wallace, Sr.'s, father, the Honorable Paul A. Wallace who served in the South Carolina Senate for many years until his untimely death; and

Whereas, the retirement of Mr. William P. Wallace, Sr., from the Marlboro County Council and the election of his daughter to replace him is a wonderful example of the dedicated tradition of public service that the Wallace family has always had and will always have; and

Whereas, by this resolution, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly give thanks to Mr. William P. Wallace, Sr., and his family for their dedicated public service and acknowledge his many contributions to his community. Now, therefore,
