H. 4304
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE CHRIST CHURCH EPISCOPAL SCHOOL BOYS VARSITY GOLF TEAM AND THE TEAM'S COACH, R. J. BEACH, OF GREENVILLE, FOR THEIR DETERMINATION AND HARD WORK THROUGHOUT THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE 2003 CLASS A STATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize young athletes who excel in individual and team sports and whose skills lead their schools to championship titles; and
Whereas, to become a champion in golf, every member of the team must have special leadership skills and athletic abilities; and
Whereas, Coach R. J. Beach molded these skills throughout the 2003 season which enabled the Christ Church Episcopal School Boys Golf Team to become the best golf team in their class; and
Whereas, on May 5 and 6, 2003, Christ Church won the 2003 Class A State Golf Championship, at the Wellman Golf Club in Johnsonville, South Carolina; and
Whereas, the members of this exceptional team are Jimmy Ferguson, Sean Evins, Andy Waters, Ward Williams, Frank Wrenn, Hall Provence, Chris Siler, and Todd Rischel; and
Whereas, with this win, the team continued a great tradition of capturing the Class A State Golf Championship, marking the fifth time in the last eight years that Christ Church has won this championship; and
Whereas, this year, Frank Wrenn won his fourth consecutive individual region championship and his second individual state title in three years. Jim Ferguson finished second in the region and was in second place after the first day of the state championship tournament, but was unable to complete the tournament due to an exam. Sean Evins finished third in the region and second in the state tournament. Also, Coach R. J. Beach was awarded an eighth consecutive Region Coach of the Year title after earning his fifth state golf championship; and
Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the members of the General Assembly recognize the abilities of these talented young South Carolinians and wish them much success in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Christ Church Episcopal School Boys Varsity Golf Team and the team's coach, R. J. Beach, of Greenville, for their determination and hard work throughout their outstanding season and for winning the 2003 Class A State Golf Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach R. J. Beach.
