To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (H. 5301) to request the Department of Transportation name the portion of Fairview Road in Lexington
That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass: JIMMY C. BALES for Committee.
TO REQUEST THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THE PORTION OF FAIRVIEW ROAD IN LEXINGTON Whereas, born October 13, 1972, Fire Engineer Paul Edwin Quattlebaum, Jr., a son of Paul E. Quattlebaum, Sr., and the late Debbie Sweeny Quattlebaum, tragically lost his life in the line of duty October 4, 2019; and
Whereas, a 1990 graduate of Batesburg-Leesburg High School, Mr. Quattlebaum honorably served his
Whereas, honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, Mr. Quattlebaum began his public service career as a volunteer Lexington Whereas, on October 4, 2019, having been dispatched on a medical call, Mr. Quattlebaum and his partner came upon a vehicle collision. Stopping to assist the vehicle's passengers, Mr. Quattlebaum was hit by a passing semi-truck and later passed away; and
Whereas, Mr. Quattlebaum was afforded a farewell befitting a fallen hero. His body was brought to the service on the back of a Lexington
Whereas, in eulogizing him, Fire Chief Mark A. Davis called Quattlebaum a hero because of the way he lived his life. "He was a man dedicated to his Whereas, Fire Engineer Paul E. Quattlebaum, Jr., is survived by his father Paul E. Quattlebaum, Sr., and stepmother Gwen S. Quattlebaum, a son, Elijah Paul Quattlebaum, and a host of other relatives and friends; and
Whereas, it is fitting and proper that the South Carolina General Assembly pay homage to a native son who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty by naming a portion of highway in Lexington Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly request the Department of Transportation name the portion of Fairview Road in Lexington Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
