A JOINT RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR AN ADVISORY REFERENDUM TO DETERMINE WHETHER
OR NOT THE REGISTERED ELECTORS OF ST. GEORGE SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 1,
SUMMERVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 2 AND HARLEYVILLE-RIDGEVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT
NO. 3 OF DORCHESTER COUNTY WISH TO ELECT THEIR SCHOOL TRUSTEES INSTEAD OF
THEIR BEING APPOINTED.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Advisory Referendum
Section 1. An advisory referendum shall be held at the same time as the
general election in 1980 to determine whether or not the registered electors
of St. George School District No. 1, Summerville School District No. 2 and
Harleyville-Ridgeville School District No. 3 of Dorchester County wish to have
their school trustees elected with the first elected members to take office
January 1, 1983, instead of being appointed. The Commissioners of Election for
Dorchester County shall conduct the referendum. Ballots shall be furnished at
the various precincts within each of the three school districts with the
following question printed thereon, including the proper school district:
"Shall the trustees of_____________ be elected instead of appointed
with the first elected members to take office January 1, 1983 ?
Yes ______
No ______
Those voting in favor of the question shall deposit a ballot with a check or
cross mark in the square after the word 'Yes' and those voting against the
question shall deposit a ballot with a check or cross mark in the square after
the word 'No'."
Time effective
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor. |
