A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

COMMENDING AND THANKING THE HONORABLE EDWARD S. ERVIN, III, OF SUMTER COUNTY FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE FORMER STATE COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND AS A MEMBER OF THE INDEPENDENT BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF FRANCIS MARION UNIVERSITY; PreviousWISHINGNext HIM SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT; AND DESIGNATING HIM AS "TRUSTEE EMERITUS" OF FRANCIS MARION UNIVERSITY.

Whereas, the Honorable Edward S. Ervin, III, of Sumter County has served with great distinction as a member of the former State College Board of Trustees which governed the operations of the College of Charleston, Lander College, and Francis Marion College; and

Whereas, he chaired Francis Marion College's subcommittee of the State College Board of Trustees; and

Whereas, he also served outstandingly as a member of the independent board of trustees of Francis Marion University from the inception of that board; and

Whereas, in his eighteen years of public service, he has demonstrated an abiding commitment to excellence in higher education and has served the State of South Carolina well with his many contributions over the years. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends and thanks the Honorable Edward S. Ervin, III, of Sumter County for his many years of dedicated public service as a member of the former State College Board of Trustees and as a member of the independent Board of Trustees of Francis Marion University and Previouswishes him success and happiness following his retirement.

Be it further resolved that Mr. Ervin is designated "Trustee Emeritus" of Francis Marion University.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Ervin.
