A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND JAMES R. MCGEE OF ORANGEBURG COUNTY FOR HIS FOURTEEN YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE ON THE ORANGEBURG COUNTY COUNCIL AND TO PreviousWISHNext HIM WELL IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, James R. McGee was elected to the position of county councilman representing Council District Number 6 for Orangeburg County in November of 1981 and took office in January of 1982; and

Whereas, during the fourteen years that Mr. McGee has served on the Orangeburg County Council, he has also served as president of the South Carolina Association of Counties, served as a member, among others, of the South Carolina Economic Development Association, American Management Association, National Association of Counties Health, Steering and Membership Committees, and has been awarded the prestigious honor of receiving the South Carolina Association of Counties President's Cup; and

Whereas, some of the projects that James McGee was instrumental in implementing were the construction of the new Animal Shelter and the County Administrative Center; the renovation and expansion of the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center and the Orangeburg County Library; establishment of an Orangeburg County Health Services Center, Orangeburg County Human Resources Center, and Orangeburg County Agricultural Center in previously existing buildings; construction and development of the Orangeburg County Industrial Park; and the implementation of the consolidated dispatch system and the Emergency 911 system; and

Whereas, James R. McGee not only served his district well, but his county and the entire State of South Carolina, rendering valuable and outstanding services. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly commend James R. McGee for his fourteen years of dedicated service to the citizens of Orangeburg County while serving on the Orangeburg County Council and Previouswish him well in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to James R. McGee.
