A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE RIDGE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL CLASS AAA GIRLS' TRACK TEAM FOR FINISHING IN FIRST PLACE IN THE STATE FOR 1996-97 AND SECOND PLACE IN 1995-96, IN ITS FIRST TWO YEARS OF EXISTENCE, AND TO EXTEND BEST PreviousWISHESNext FOR THE CONTINUATION OF ITS NEW WINNING TRADITION.

Whereas, Ridge View High School, in its first year of existence, won overall second place honors in the Class AAA Girls' Track competition in South Carolina for 1995-96; and

Whereas, the 1996-97 Ridge View Girls' Track Team, under the leadership and encouragement of Coach Catherine Lempesis, won the South Carolina Girls' State Track Championship in only its second year in being, outdistancing second place finisher Belton-Honea Path by 15.5 points; and

Whereas, the individual members of the Ridge View Blazers State Championship Girls' Class AAA Track Team are Perry Fields, Christina Libert, Paige Beasley, Shakita White, Shanita Walton, Rian Jenkins, Kate Fallon, Peaches Hudson, Tiffany Cherny, Desiree Jordan, and Tasha Caldwell; and

Whereas, in addition to Coach Catherine Lempesis, the team was greatly assisted by Assistant Coach Ed Prytherch and volunteers Carla Decker and Troy Watlington; and

Whereas, these remarkable accomplishments in just two years of Classs AAA competition reflect a commitment to excellence by these fine young women athletes, as well as their school, coaches, family, and community which supported their efforts throughout the season so well; and

Whereas, their achievements reflect great honor and credit upon these student athletes, Ridge View High School, Richland County School District Two, and its community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the South Carolina House of Representatives congratulates the Ridge View High School Class AAA Girls' Track Team for finishing in first place in the State for 1996-97 and second place in 1995-96, in its first two years of existence, and extends best Previouswishes for the continuation of its new winning tradition.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Catherine Lempesis.
