BROWN, VICE PRESIDENT FOR ADVANCEMENT AT PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE IN CLINTON,
SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS OF ENERGY, VISION, AND SKILL TO THE
COLLEGE AND THE COMMUNITY FOR THE PAST TWELVE YEARS, AND TO WISH HIM THE
GREATEST SUCCESS IN HIS NEW POSITION AS PRESIDENT OF MARTIN METHODIST COLLEGE
IN PULASKI, TENNESSEE.

TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE TO DR.
THEODORE R. "TED" BROWN, VICE PRESIDENT FOR
ADVANCEMENT AT PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE IN CLINTON,
SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS OF ENERGY,
VISION, AND SKILL TO THE COLLEGE AND THE
COMMUNITY FOR THE PAST TWELVE YEARS, AND TO
WISH HIM THE GREATEST SUCCESS IN HIS NEW POSITION
AS PRESIDENT OF MARTIN METHODIST COLLEGE IN
PULASKI, TENNESSEE.
Whereas, Dr. Ted Brown has served Presbyterian College for the past
twelve years as its Vice-President for Advancement; and
Whereas, during that time he has overseen fund-raising programs
which garnered more than seventy million dollars, and resulted in,
among other enhancements to the college's programs, the
construction of nine major campus facilities; and
Whereas, he developed and managed the college's first
comprehensive campaign, the Building from Strength Campaign,
which raised thirty-eight and one-half million dollars, more than three
times the college's previous efforts; and
Whereas, Dr. Brown served the college and the field of higher
education in a number of other arenas, most notably as the author of
the college's long-range plan for 1993-97; and
Whereas, he also found time to contribute to the Clinton community
and to Laurens County in a variety of ways, including: President,
Laurens County Literacy Council and board member of the South
Carolina Literacy Council; Chairman of the board and Campaign
Chairman, Laurens County United Way; President, Laurens County
Education Enrichment Fund; and leadership roles in the YMCA, Cub
Scouts, and Health Care Trust; and
Whereas, this ordained United Methodist minister has been called to
serve Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee, as its
President; and
Whereas, the people of Clinton and Laurens County and the State of
South Carolina must graciously surrender Dr. Ted Brown to his new
and exciting opportunity; and
Whereas, the people wish to express their fondest appreciation to him
for his many contributions and for leaving his community and State
a better place for having had him in service here. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina does
hereby express its appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Theodore R.
"Ted" Brown, Vice-President for Advancement at Presbyterian
College in Clinton, South Carolina, for his contributions of energy,
vision, and skill to the college and the community for the past twelve
years, and to wish him the greatest success in his new position as
President of Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
Dr. Theodore R. "Ted" Brown.
