RESOLUTION
TO OFFER THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH
CAROLINA TO MR. AND MRS. TALLY ADAMS OF
RICHLAND COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR
FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND TO EXTEND BEST
WISHES TO THEM AND THEIR FAMILY ON THIS DAY OF
JOY.
Whereas, Tally Adams was born in Richland County on January 2,
1925, the fourth born of thirteen children; and
Whereas, Florence Adams was born December 13, 1929, the eldest
of five children; and
Whereas, the Adams met through Florence's uncle, who served in the
military with Tally; and
Whereas, Tally and Florence Adams were joined in holy matrimony
on February 15, 1948; and
Whereas, Florence was employed at Fort Jackson for many years; and
Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Adams are blessed with nine surviving
children, and all of them are college graduates; and
Whereas, their marriage has been a symbol of love and trust for their
children; and
Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Adams have both received numerous
acknowledgments for their church, community, and volunteer
involvements; and
Whereas, Tally Adams has been recognized for his hard work and
accomplishments many times, including: nominated Father of the
Year in 1997, honored for outstanding service as Sunday School
Superintendent (1985), dedicated service as Vice President of the
Wateree Sunday School Convention (1988-1992); and recognized by
the School Board Commission for Richland County School District
1 for his tireless efforts and dedicated service to his community; and
Whereas, this loving couple's contributions to their family, friends,
and community have earned them the justifiable affection and respect
of all those with whom they have worked or served; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly wish to express their
desire that Tally and Florence Adams celebrate many more wedding
anniversaries with their family and friends. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South
Carolina, by this resolution, offer their congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Tally Adams of Richland County on the occasion of their
Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary and extend best wishes to them and
their family on this day of joy.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Mr. and Mrs. Tally Adams.
