A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND REVEREND WILLIAM F. MILHOLLAND, JR.,
FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS PASTOR OF ZION
LUTHERAN CHURCH IN LEXINGTON, AND TO WISH HIM
THE BEST AS HE ASSUMES NEW PASTORAL
RESPONSIBILITIES IN NORTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, Reverend William F. Milholland, Jr., affectionately known
as "Pastor Bill" is departing as Pastor of Zion Lutheran
Church in Lexington and is being called to assume pastoral duties at
a new congregation; he is recognized and highly respected for his
excellent skills as a preacher, for his caring nature as a pastor, and for
his tireless efforts on behalf of the greater church and service to his
community; and
Whereas, Reverend Milholland has served the Zion congregation for
the past eight and one-half years and previously as an intern before
his graduation from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in
Columbia; his tenure at Zion Lutheran Church encompassed the
church's 250th Anniversary celebration; the church was organized as
a congregation in 1745, thus making Zion Lutheran Church older
than our nation; his work as pastor has been exemplary; and
Whereas, Reverend William F. Milholland and his wife Susan are
natives of North Carolina; they have lived and been actively involved
in the Lexington community where Susan Milholland teaches first
grade at Red Bank Elementary School; and
Whereas, Susan and Bill Milholland are successful in their
educational and pastoral careers; they are also the proud parents of
Sarah, who is a student at Lexington Middle School, and Joel, who
is a student at Red Bank Elementary School; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to
recognize and congratulate the Reverend William F. Milholland, Jr.,
for his outstanding ministry to Zion Lutheran Church and to the
community and to wish him and his family the very best in their new
church and community and in their future service in North Carolina.
Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, commends Reverend William F. Milholland, Jr., for his
outstanding service as Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Lexington
and wishes him the best as he assumes new pastoral responsibilities
in North Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Reverend Milholland.
