A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING MRS. KATHLEEN "KAY" FELDER BODENHEIMER OF AIKEN COUNTY FOR HER TWENTY-SIX YEARS OF OUTSTANDING TEACHING AND DEDICATION TO EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION, AND EXTENDING TO HER BEST PreviousWISHESNext FOR HAPPINESS FOLLOWING HER RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Kathleen "Kay" Felder Bodenheimer of Aiken County graduated from Kingstree High School in 1952 and from Winthrop College in 1956 with a degree in public school music; she later received a master's degree from the University of South Carolina in English education and has also obtained more than thirty credit hours beyond her master's degree; and

Whereas, Mrs. Bodenheimer is a certified teacher in language arts, reading, English, science, and music education; and

Whereas, she is retiring in 1999 after teaching in the public schools of Beaufort, Richland, and Aiken counties for twenty-six years; she has taught for the last eighteen years continuously at Kennedy Middle School in Aiken; she additionally taught for five years at a private school in Aiken (Aiken Day School) and was a distinguished private teacher of piano; and

Whereas, she comes from a family of devoted educators: her father was a teacher and was also the Williamsburg County school superintendent, and her mother taught school; additionally Mrs. Bodenheimer's aunts, uncle, and sister were public school teachers; and

Whereas, Kay Bodenheimer has given generously of her time, talents, and resources for many years to the children of the Palmetto State; she has been an excellent educator and clearly has been devoted to teaching as a profession; she has made her mark on many young lives and is highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes and commends Mrs. Kathleen "Kay" Felder Bodenheimer of Aiken County for her twenty-six years of outstanding teaching and dedication to excellence in education and extends to her best Previouswishes for happiness following her retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Bodenheimer.
