Church on its accomplishments and extend best wishes upon the dedication of
 the sanctuary and church.

05/11/93 Senate Introduced and adopted SJ-36

A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE CONGREGATION OF NEW JERUSALEM BAPTIST CHURCH ON ITS ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND EXTEND BEST WISHES UPON THE DEDICATION OF THE SANCTUARY AND CHURCH.

Whereas, a group of Christian believers met for Sunday worship at the Juanita Butler Center on March 18, 1990, under the leadership of Dr.John T. Berry, Sr.; and

Whereas, on March 25, 1990, a meeting was called to organize a church that would be a soul-winning and tithing church; and

Whereas, the name "New Jerusalem Baptist Church" was selected which exemplified the congregation's desire to make it to that city so bright and fair, where the streets are made of gold, New Jerusalem; and

Whereas, soul winning became New Jerusalem's top priority with Bible study and prayer meetings as major components of the church and program development because it denoted growth; and

Whereas, choirs and other organizations were developed as vital sources of their missionNext; and

Whereas, members of New Jerusalem Baptist Church began to work diligently to meet the growing church needs, making donations and pledges to the building fund; and

Whereas, in September of 1990, 4.09 acres of land located on Old Grove Road were purchased and in January, 1992, plans were finalized for the construction of the sanctuary; and

Whereas, in 1991, New Jerusalem Baptist Church became a member of the Baptist Educational and PreviousMissionary Convention of South Carolina, the Women's Convention of South Carolina, and the National Baptist Convention, Incorporated; and

Whereas, the Lord has truly blessed the New Jerusalem Baptist Church Family. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members congratulate New Jerusalem Baptist Church for its accomplishments and extend best wishes upon the dedication of the sanctuary and the church.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. John T. Berry, Sr..
